Living our Faith

The education of our students is a shared responsibility of home, school and parish. HFCFI is blessed to have a dedicated staff, who, in the spirit of Faith, serve our students with commitment for academic excellence, and nurturance of individual gifts, rooted in the Gospel, and reflected in the tenets of our Catholic Faith. Catholic education is distinctive in its role to form the whole child through Faith formation. The Catholic Graduate Expectations guide the life roles, knowledge, skills and attitudes of graduates of our Catholic Secondary Schools.

Each month, we gather as a Faith community to celebrate the Eucharist at our parish, Holy Trinity. Classroom liturgies, and the celebration of the Sacraments of First Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation further our distinct identity as an educational community in Christ. Our students give witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, justice, and the sacredness of human life. Various charities benefit from the efforts of our students: United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, and Salvation Army among others.

Curriculum Program

The Ontario Curriculum: Grades 1-8, French as a Second Language, Grades 1-8, French Immersion (2013), and the Ontario Full-Day Early Learning - Kindergarten Program are the core curriculum delivered by Holy Family Catholic French Immersion teachers. Expectations are shaped by our faith tradition, with the Ontario Catholic School Graduation Expectations serving as our vision of the learner. The Catholic graduate is described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but in terms of values, attitudes and actions.

The Catholic Graduate is expected to be…

  1. A discerning believer
  2. An effective communicator
  3. A reflective, creative and holistic thinker
  4. A self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner
  5. A collaborative contributor
  6. A caring family member, and,
  7. A responsible citizen.
